April 27-28 Steamboat Rock State Park Walks

The start location for all three (American Volkssport Association-sanctioned) walks is in Steamboat Rock State Park.  Steamboat Rock State Park is a 3,522-acre Washington state park located near the north end of Banks Lake in the Grand Coulee. The park takes its name from the landscape’s dominating feature, Steamboat Rock, a basalt butte that rises 800 feet above the lake which nearly completely surrounds it. (Wikipedia) For information about camping, fishing and other facilities, check the Washington State Park  website.

Start Time:  8:00 am – 1:00 pm
Finish Time: 5:00 pm (Saturday); 4:00 pm (Sunday)

Water and rest rooms are available at the start.  Please plan to carry water — despite the lake in the picture, this is a desert region.  We also recommend sturdy walking shoes and, if you are accustomed to them, trekking poles.

AVA credit is $3.00.  We will have “B” awards of previous Steamboat Rock/Grand Coulee patches available for discounted prices.  Free participants are always welcome.  All participants must register, carry a start card and return the start card upon completion of the route(s).

Discover Pass: A Discover Pass is required for vehicle access to state parks for day use. For more information about the Discover Pass and exemptions, please visit the Discover Pass web page.

Pets must be on leash and under physical control at all times. This includes trail areas and campsites. Pet owners must clean up after pets on all state park lands.
